Depends: The major side effect of Ibuprofen is GI distress and bleeding. If you take Ibuprofen consider an acid blocker concurrently like prilosec. Prolonged high dosage can lead to some ear toxicity as well. The danger increases with age. If you need to take this agent for a prolonged period of time or at high dose (over 800 per day), then ask your family doctor first.
