Hygiene with braces: Bad breath is usually due to the presence of bacteria. Your son needs to floss with special threaders and brush after eating to get rid of the food debris that gets caught in the wires and brackets. Regular rinsing will also help.

Sulfur : Bad breath is caused by not removing the bacteria that convert food debris into sulfur producing compounds. In other words, your son's commitment to himself, in terms of oral hygiene, needs a boost. If he doesn't keep teeth clean in addition to bad breath he will have permanently scarred teeth and gum damage. Ask your orthodontic specialist and your general dentist for advice and support.
