My son is 22 months. he started with a cough yesterday and since 1pm he has a fever of 39.his breath also smells funny.do i need to take him to a doc? his cough looks like it is hurting him. after pain meds he is still very fussy

Probably: Once this fever & cough begin to interfere with his fluid intake, it places him at risk of dehydration. If he's drinking well & playing you might give it a day, but it sounds like a visit would be worthwhile.
