No: Eye drops and ointments have little, if any, affect on a sty. Treat a sty by using a warm compress 3-4 times per day. Antibiotics are usually not needed. If it fails to get better in 1-2 weeks, see an ophthalmologist for further treatment options.

Not really: The word sty is usually synonymous with chalazion, a blockage of an oil gland along the eyelid. There is not generally an infectious component. The treatment is warm compresses applied to the eyelid. Although warm compresses are usually effective, surgical drainage of the chalazion can also be done.
