Please clarify: No nerves run 'through' a disc. If you are asking what nerve root exits between the C4 and C5 vertebral bodies where the disc at the level could pinch the root, then technically it is C5 root. But people can have atypical anatomy called 'prefixed' or postfixed plexi. Normal anatomy is what i discussed above. There are 8 cervical roots and 7 vertebral bodies.
