Complicated: Platelets may increase as a secondary phenomena due to inflammatory conditions; the ESR is an indirect measurement of inflammation. Putting it together, you may have some inflammatory state (high esr) which is causing a secondary elevation in the platelets. Speak with your doctor regarding further work-up and referral if needed.
