Depends: Generally, if you are exclusively breastfeeding a single baby (not using any solids or formula), you need about 300 to 500 extra calories beyond what you ate prior to pregnancy. It's more important to eat to satisfy hunger than watch calories. Avoid eating for stress or fatigue. Eat a nutritious well-balanced diet because what you eat flavors your milk, so you are developing your baby's taste!
