Breastfeeding: Your friend may find herself in the hospital rather than losing weight. If anything, she needs extra calories to sustain her health and breastfeeding.

Sad problem: I have seen babies hospitalized for just such maternal diets. Most would get by for a while, since the mom's body often extracts nutrients from her bones/muscles/etc to give baby at least a minimum. This kind of diet leads to bone loss and malnutrition for both eventually. I wouldn't think twice about calling child and family services (most keep reports confidential)To have a 3rd party investigate
