Chronic Fracture: Vertebroplasty is a non-invasive procedure in which bone cement is injected into the vertebral body and is commonly done for osteoporotic compression fracture that did not respond to conservative management. There are many factors that need to be considered and complete imaging of the area completed to determine your specific needs.

Fracture: As mentioned, vertebral augmentation is an option in cases of compression fracture, usually performed in older patients, many of whom have osteoporosis. Bracing is another option. There are fractures, however, that are too severe to consider safe vertebral augmentation, and in that case, surgery should be considered.
