Bugs Crawling: Varicose veins can be painful and can include swelling, leg heaviness and leg fatigue. Patients often complain of odd sensations including leg cramps and a crawling sensation. Be sure to visit a vascular surgeon to have your varicose veins fully evaluated. You'll want to get a venous duplex.

Multiple symptoms: Varicose veins can cause many symptoms including pain, aching, swelling, cramping , heaviness, tired legs or even restless legs. I have not heard the feeling of bugs crawling to describe varicose veins. The most common symptom of varicose veins is aching of the legs. It would be prudent to see a vein specialist for a full venous evaluation with a venous ultrasound.

Itching is common: A lot of patients complain of itching with venous insufficiency or varicose veins. See a phlebologist or vein specialist. Phlebology.Org for a referral.

Not commonly: This sounds more like a symptoms of restless legs rather than varicose veins, but it is a possibility. Not a common symptoms described by varicose vein patients though. More common with varicose veins to have achiness, burning, throbbing, dull pain, itching, heaviness, pressure sensation, or cramping discomfort. These vein symptoms usually worse with standing & relieved with elevation / rest.

Varicose veins: I have had some patients describe the sensation in that manner. But usually there are other surrounding symptoms such as swelling, heaviness, discomfort, throbbing, aching, and itching sensation due to varicose veins.
