Yes: Some spider bites are painful and can be dangerous. In many parts of america the brown recluse (fiddle back) and black widow spiders are found. Both can give a nasty bite. I have seen many brown recluse bites that look bruised to the patient but the tissues are much worse off that just bruised. Spider bites can cause the tissue to break down and even large areas of skin and muscle can be lost.
