A member asked:

Can arthroscopic surgery be done to remove a bone spur in my knee?

Technically yes: It can be done. However, a bone spur is usually the result of osteoarthritic changes and is not the cause of the pain. Studies have shown that arthroscopic surgery to 'clean things up' and repair minor cartilage damage usually provides no more than very temporary benefit.

Yes: Many times arthroscopic surgery can successfully remove a offending bone spur in the knee. Your orthopedic surgeon can give you a very accurate assessment as to the success that he/she will have doing this.
