A member asked:

What parts of the brain are involved when you hear something and look at it?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Neuroanatomy: Sound waves are transduced by the inner ear mechanism into a neural impulse in the auditory nerve, which then sends information to the brainstem, thalamus, and, ultimately, the auditory cortex for processing. In the eye, the retina transduces light into a neural impulse, and the optic nerve transmits this information to the thalamus and then to the visual cortex of the brain for processing.
