What is the effect of newborn baby if he sleep with mouth open?

Obstructed nose: Infants are nose breathers but breath through their mouth when the nose is plugged (mucous). The mouth may get dry doing this. But one should make sure the infant's nose is patent (unobstructed). Sometimes Normal Saline or ayers nose drops/spray may help.
