Why do eye styes itch?

Inflammation: Styes cause inflammation which dilates blood vessels, resulting in release of histamine, which causes itching. Make a hot pack with a sock filled with rice, zap in the microwave for 30 seconds and gently place on lids for 10 minutes. It may swell more then drain. If not see an eyemd for a minor procedure called chalazion incision and drainage.
