A member asked:

Test came back negitive :/ is oral herpes always detectable in your mouth?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

No: Nothing is always, and i always say never say never. Usually oral lesions which look herpetic, are due to herpes. Tests can suggest that herpes is present (special stains and viral cultures), but negative findings do not exclude the diagnosis.
