Well,: If you think he does need stitches you better take him to and emergency room asap as the window for primary suture is rapidly closing. If it is on the lower leg after stitching have some compression stocking on the leg to offset possible swelling that will delay healing. Make sure to be given a tetanus shot too!

See doc: Should likely see doc to make that decision. If its all the way through the skin, stitches would likely be wise. If you didn't get stitches initially, your doc can instruct you how to care for it, and allow it to heal by itself.
