Kidney stone: If you have a persistent UTI while still on antibiotics and have a known kidney stone then you should see a urologist. Failure to cure a UTI would be an indication to remove the stone with a procedure by the urologist. You might also need IV antibiotics and fluids. It is also important to know if the antibiotics you have been taking adequately treat the bacteria. A urine culture is helpful.

Kidney Stone: A 3mm kidney stone can move but is generally small enough to pass through the ureter to the bladder with pain, but not getting stuck. Kidney stones have different make ups that can be tested if you save the stone. Kidney stones can get larger or smaller depending on fluid intake and other factors. You need to go to the er if the infection gets worse.
