Don't wait: If he is having retractions, that is concerning and should be evaluated now. Does he have a history of wheezing or asthma? If so, and you have a nebulizer or inhaler with albuterol, you should give him a treatment. If that doesn't help, he should be seen by the doctor. If he doesn't have any previous history, he should be seen by the doctor to determine the cause of his fast breathing.
