Several things: Depends on the cancer you are looking for. If symptoms arise, dr will seek answers. Important to see dr. Regularly (physical exams, skin checks), get routine blood work, do routine health maintenance screening tests, mammos, pap smears, colonoscopies, etc. Good luck.

Depends on type: There are general tests that are screening tests that are done such as mammograms for breast cancer, psa and rectal exam for prostate, colonoscospy for lower GI cancers. If there is a specific cancer that you suspect, for example, brain cancer there are more specific tests like MRI scans. A good physical examination by your physician is also a good screening tool that is often not done.
