Iron: Iron deficiency comes from constant loss, there must be something that is making you lose iron. This needs to be discussed with your doctor, i would not stop before getting their opinion, as the anemia may recur.

Yes: As soon as your HGB & hematocrit are in normal range you should stop taking iron. Too much iron is not good either , because it deposits in vital organs and cause problems.
