Burning tingling: It is possible to have neuropathic changes without diabetes. Tests need to be done to evaluate you - you mention back pain in conditions - and your podiatrist can help you with that as well as any needed referral to a neurologist . Good luck.

Back Pain: Sometimes symptoms of numbness and tingling can be caused by compression of the lower back, especially the lumbar region. I would discuss the symptoms with your orthopedist or primary care physician.

Neuropathy: You might have a nerve compression at the ankles, tarsal tunnel syndrome. You could possess a peripheral neuropathy due to either large or small fibers. You could possess lumbar stenosis, with referred symptoms down your legs to feet. An EMG could assist, but you might need some further tests.
