Certainly: The narrow deep "ice pick" type scars can be easily cut out with a tiny circular surgical punch that remives the whole pitted scar which is the closed with a few fine sutures. Longer scars may be excised with careful closure along anatomic lines that parallel normal skin creases. Dermabrasion is helpful for shallow scarring.

Yes: Surgical excision of acne scars may be performed, but that would leave scars as well. The best treatments are probably nonsurgical, such as dermabrasion, lasers, chemical peels and dermarolling.
