A member asked:

Is a needle aspiration of a bartholin's cyst painful?

3 doctors weighed in across 2 answers

No: If cyst is large, aspiration should be performed. The needle that can be employed should be 22 gauge minimal to get the fluid out. There should be no pain and no needle injection with novacaine. At most topical freezing of skin with ethyl chloride can be used.
