Just tongue: The tongue is made of many hair-like processes. They grow and shed on a regular basis. They look white, pink, red, etc. The white that is only on the tongue is just tongue. If there is thrush, there will be white coating inside the cheeks and lips.

FOOD DEBRIS: Food gets "ground" in the mouth and also milk and derivative cause white plaque formation . Many children don't scrub their teeth properly , neither scrape their tongue specially at night. This is the main reason.
