Can you get a cold sore if a child who has the virus spits at you and it lands on your tongue? my son spit his medication out back at me while administering and spit landed on my tongue. i washed off with soap but still worried?

The short answer is yes, you can get contaminated with (Herpes Simplex) cold sore virus by being contaminated with an infected person's saliva. You took the best immediate precautions, and possibly over did it. Your child probably got the virus from you in the first place anyway.
