A member asked:

Is it normal for diastolic blood pressure to be higher when standing than when sitting? some times over 100 when standing.

Monitoring bp: Be aware that gravity causes blood to pool in your legs whenever you stand. Your body compensates for this by increasing your heart rate and constricting blood vessels, thereby ensuring that enough blood returns to your brain. So it is best to be in a relaxed sitting position, when checking your numbers. No blood pressure is ok >100, so i would follow up with your doctor and review your risks...

Not necessarily : If you are checking, it would be best to check your blood pressure about 2-5 minutes after standing up, not immediately, to allow your body to adjust. If you continue to have diastolic pressures above 80, you should see your doctor to consider treatment for high blood pressure.
