Granuloma Pyogrnicum: Sounds like you may not have the complete picture. Exuberant granulation is caused by chronic foreign body tissue reaction whereby chemotaxis of inflammatory infiltrate and leukocyte cells macrophages etc cause angioneogenesis in an attempt to encircle an ingrowing nail or thorn or other material. This in turns forms excess tissue growth which may in turn epithelialize when rejected foreign body.

It is not unusual.: It is not unusual to still hurt 5 days later after this procedure. The real question is: is there significant redness, swelling, or drainage? If so, you may need an antibiotic.

Be patient: Pain may last several days after any surgical procedure. Give it some more time. Have it evaluated if you do not see significant improvement over the next few days.
