Is there any new treatments for ra that r more effective than methotrexate and less side effect!?

RA: There are other treatments available for RA than methotrexate, but whether they are more effective or not, it's an unknown fact. You will need to talk to your doc about further options of treatment if Methotrexate turns to be ineffective.

Yes: The biologic agents are very effective in those individuals in which Methotrexate either does not help sufficiently or it not tolerated. You need to discuss these alternatives with the doctor treating your ra. These agents are enbrel, humira, Remicade (infliximab) and several others.

Yes: Treatment of rheumatoid arthritis can be individualized to achieve disease remission in many patients. Immunomodulatory drugs are available which help to suppress the immune system and reduce the inflammation in the joints. Humira and Enbrel (etanercept) are 2 examples that are very effective, but very expensive.
