Properly indicated imaging studies represent, by definition, situations where the risks of radiation are outweighed by the benefits to the patient. I wouldn't worry about ct scan radiation causing a brain tumor.

No: Radiation exposure from a single cat scan should not be a source for concern. Risk and benefit should always be considered for any procedure. Repeated ct scans may sometimes be necessary but overall radiation dose can accumulate to fairly high levels and should be a consideration when ordering these exams.
