A member asked:

When they say sores that don't heal are linked to diabetes do they mean mainly on feet or everywhere? what's the biggest clue? thanks dr!

Yes to both: Diabetic ulcers typically occur on the lower legs. However, wounds everywhere can take longer to heal in diabetics. Excessive thirst, frequent urination, and weight loss can be signs of undetected diabetes.

Dont be sore: When blood glucose levels are above 240 (normal is 70-140) immune response can be inhibited and wounds may mot heal.
