A member asked:

How long will i stay bloated & swollen after a hysterectomy?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Several weeks: Much of the abdominal bloating and swelling after a hysterectomy is actually excess gas inside the intestines. Over 1-2 weeks the excess gas passes and the intestines go back to normal. Walking, avoid narcotics and constipation can help. Some swelling is due to abdominal wall incisions which can also take several weeks to go to normal. Ice packs can help.
