Why would the doctor say i have a gum infection that is spreading to my throat which is making my throat red and sore but to me it feels like strep?

VIRAL INFECTION:: Most probably you have viral infection of the oral cavity which is causing gingivitis (gum infection) and also upper respiratory/throat infection. Strep doesn't cause gum infection usually.
