Several ways: Many studies show the importance of having a higher HDL for heart protection. Several things can be done naturally, other than meds, including decreasing your triglycerides, decreasing trans fats in your diet, drinking green tea, red wine (not excessive use of course), dark chocolate, vit d, and most importantly exercise and maintaining a healthy weight.

It's not: Normal HDL is 40 for a male. If you are active and don't smoke , it's probably inherited . Niacin may help raise them as well . Keeping your total cholesterol and LDL in the normal range or lower will help your ratio.
