Low end of normal: 35 would be just about the low end of normal. That is more important to know is what your LDL level is.

A little low: Tom, a normal HDL is >40, but >45 is even better. If you smoke: stop. If you have diabetes, control it. If you're sedentary, start an exercise program. If you're overweight, try to work towards normal weight. Follow a mediterranean diet (google it if you're not sure). You can raise your HDL without drugs and studies haven't shown that drugs that raise HDL actually help!
