A member asked:

My doctor suspects endometriosis or twisting of my left ovary (ultra sound shows no cysts). what are the distinct differences in those two things?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Difference: Endometriosis is the spread of endometrial tissue from beyond the inside of the uterus into different parts of the abdomen and pelvis. This tissue "menstruates" along with a typical cycle, which can causes enormous pain. Ovarian torsion is the twisting of the ovary (and its vascular supply) along its axis, which can starve the ovary of blood and cause pain.
