Possibly: If you lose weight and get in shape with the exercise, it is possible depending on the severity of your diabetes (if mild for example) for you to eventually get off metformin, but consult with your doctor to get a better idea of what is possible for you.

NO !: Exercise though very useful for the cardiovascular system does not take the place of diabetic medications !

Possibly....: Exercise and weight loss are the best things to do if you would eventually like to get off of meds for your type 2 dm. You must keep your regular appointments withy our pcp and monitor you diabetes. Once your levels have reached appropriate levels your doctor may allow you to discontinue this medication. Do not discontinue it witout first see your dr and having the approriate testing completed.
