Not Common: Never break a tablet..can cause esophagus complications. Never 3 times a day either with food. Must be taken 2x a day. Perhaps alternate one day 1 2x, and next 1 500mg Metformin 3x a day

You can, but: the dosage range is highly individualistic and if your doctor prescribed metformin 3 times per day, it is important to follow the instructions. Metformin helps lower hemoglobin A1C to safe low levels (below 5-6%). Good luck.
