Retinal problem: While this can be a symptom of retinal detachment, tear or vitreous detachment it is more likely due to hypertension. Zig zag lines can also be a sign of ophthalmic migraine. Take your blood pressure before and after a workout. I recommend a retinal evaluation by an ophthalmologist.

Ocular migraines!: Ocular migraines are a form of migraines that take place in the occipital cortex (part of the brain that interprets/controls vision). They lack the severe headache as common migraines. The symptoms are usually all or mostly visual and are typically described as flashing of light or ziz-zag lights in the vision. They usually last less than 30 minutes and affect the vision out of both eyes.

Aura: The migraine aura is a neurosensory disturbance that includes a series of idiopathic, recurring neurologic symptoms that develop gradually over a 5-20 minute period and last less than an hour. In fact, not every aura is followed by a migraine attack. Your case is a good example. There is no preventive or abortive treatment for aura.
