Pain upper thigh: Most likely musculoskeletal. If not getting better in three weeks you should see a doctor. Upper outer thigh pain sometimes can be from bursitis.

Thigh pain: Pain in the thigh can result from an infection or muscular injury or hernia. A primary care physician will be able to do the initial evaluation.
