Depends: This could be caused by a number of things depending on your medical history, age, etc. It could be something as minor as just being out of shape or something more serious like peripheral artery disease which is caused by cholesterol build-up in the arteries of your extremities; this is called intermittent claudication. I would recommend seeing your physician to get a formal diagnosis.

Claudication: What you're explaining is the definition of claudication! claudication is caused by peripheral arterial disease which maybe caused by factors such as diabetes, smoking, cholestrol, hypertension, heart disease etc... However, medicine is not always textbook, therefore, other diagnosis such as spinal stenosis, dvt, and lumbar radiculopathy can also present in this fashion! please be seen.
