Mirena (levonorgestrel) probably ok: Often at insertion of a mirena, (levonorgestrel) the string is left a little long, knowing that it can easily be trimmed later on. That is preferable to being unable to find the string! bleeding during the first six months after Mirena (levonorgestrel) placement is variable and what you describe is common. There is no harm in having it checked if you are concerned that it could be expelled; an examination would be reassuring.
