Perirectal abcess: A perirectal abcess is an infection that normally requires drainage and antibiotics. Usually it is caused by obstruction of anal glands although they can be related to inflammatory bowel disease or trauma. They can lead to fistulas or a tract between the rectum and skin. Hemorrhoids can also cause anal lumps but they are not infected and don't require the same treatement.
