Old external hemorr.: Internal hemorrhoids and external hemorrhoids share the same underlying veins and are often found together, although not necessarily enlarged/inflamed at the same time. An external hemorrhoid is usually very painful with sharp pain and feels different than the burning/pressure of an internal hemorrhoid. When an external hemorrhoid resolves, it a little non-tender "skin tag" next to the anus.
