Tongue lesions: Vitamin B12 deficiency can cause various tongue lesions. Your dr can check for this w/ a blood test. Also, various medications can cause dry mouth, which can lead to lesions on the tongue. Smoking and chewing tobacco can cause oral cancer, but this is unlikely in an 18 year old.There is also a benign condition called "geographic tongue".

Relax: You are doing the best thing that you are doing the best thing that you can do at this point. An exam by and ENT will give you the answers that you are looking for. Once the problem has been diagnosed it can be treated. And you can deal with it. You are in good hands.

Don't be: Based upon your age and description of your tongue, nothing that you mentioned sounds serious. It's good that you are seen an ENT just to be sure. I bet that you will be pleasantly surprised.
