Total number: Total white blood cells (WBC) seen in a lab report is a total number obtained by adding all the different types of wbc- neutrophils, lymphocytes, basophils, eosinophils, so when labs report wbc; they first write down the different cells and their percentage of the total; and also the absolute number (which is more accurate); adding these numbers make up the wbc.
