DDx: Elevated lymphocytes means the lymphocytes are elevated. It is not a diagnosis. The differential diagnosis (ddx) includes viral infection, inflammation (eg pleurisy), and a leukemia such as chronic lymphocytic leukemia (cll). If the alc improves spontaenous, it is likely infection/inflammation. If not a flow cytometry study can start indicating if clonal (cll) or non-clonal increase.

Not concerned: Absolute lymphocyte count fluctuates wildly for reasons that are usually totally mysterious -- the immune system is itself chaotic. If your physician is not concerned, i would not be either.
