What is the difference of catscan with or without contrast for the spine?

CT Scan: This is a special x-ray test that provides 3d images (shown in 2d format usually) of complex anatomy. Adding contrast (contains iodine and can cause kidney failure in rare instances) allows for vascular tissue to be better visualized. Most helpful in people who have had previous surgery, and to rule out infection, tumor, or other vascular abnormalities.

I had a bad fall and during CT spine also noticed lytic lesions that may not be normal for my age. They then did a MRI later and a different doctor didnt see anything but did not use contrast . Would they have seen something without contrast?
