Could a dry scratchy throat be due to a toothpaste?

How long using?: Cinnamon in it? Have allergies? Changed it recently? Swallowing toothpaste? Sodium lauryl sulfate can cause irritation. Sls is a common ingredient in most toothpastes; it is the stuff that causes it to foam. It's a degreaser, dissolving skin oils, which can cause a drying effect. It also causes skin irritation and possible rash. Burt's bees natural toothpaste is a good, & tom's of maine.

Possible: Some people have allergic reactions to some ingredients in toothpaste (i.e. Sodium lauryl sulfate)... Try a preservative free one such as tom's of maine for a few days and see if it resolves... If it persists, speak to your physician, because there are many possible other causes...If you are experiencing it first thing in the morning, then it could be related to acid reflux or post nasal drip...

Probably not: It is probably not the toopaste. Do not swollw the paste and if it continues change toothpastes.

No connection: Other than eating or swallowing the toothpaste, no toothpaste will cause a dry scratchy throat. Although unlikely, you may be allergic to the particular toothpaste or one of its ingredients. Simple solution: change brands.
