Temperature: The dry cough may be related to an allergic reaction or local throat irritation. There are respiratory illnesses associated with dry cough. Monitor for fever, stay well hydrated and rest. Use cool air mist, nasal mist and please see your PCP.

See a doc: If the problem has been prolonged it may be infectious (bacteria or,fungal), Post nasal drip, allergies and such. It needs to be evaluated for accurate diagnosis, then a good treatment plan will result. In the meantime, use cough drops to maintain moisture, drink throat coat tea with honey, and cough suppressants to ease the symptoms.
